ETSU Promise Plus
ETSU Promise Plus Scholars are first-time, full-time freshmen eligible for the Tennessee Education Lottery (HOPE) Scholarship and the maximum Pell Grant. If any tuition and program-service-fee costs are left after these funds have been applied, ETSU pays them for Promise Plus Scholars.
- By maintaining your eligibility, you’ll never have to pay tuition or program service fees during the four years of your Promise Plus Scholarship, even if they go up.
- If you live on campus, you’ll also receive a $1500 housing scholarship annually for four years.
- Two of your family members will receive free memberships in the Buccaneer Family Association (a $75 value).
Promise Plus Scholars are committed to getting the most out of their ETSU education, so they complete a first-year experience course, attend academic coaching in their freshman year, and participate in career development activities throughout their time at ETSU. By succeeding at ETSU, Promise Plus Scholars pave the way to a better life for themselves, their families and their communities.

How Does the Promise Plus Scholarship Work?
ETSU’s Promise Plus Scholars Program covers any tuition and program services costs left over after your Pell grant and Hope scholarship are applied. The amount of funding provided varies from student to student, depending on other public funding you are receiving. The Promise Plus Scholars Program does not pay for books or other expenses, such as course fees, housing, and meal plans.
