Find out more about the Promise Grant and Inspire Scholarship, which provide financial assistance to qualified freshmen who are TN residents.

The Promise Grant can be renewed for one additional year as long as you remain eligible for the Hope (Lottery) scholarship.

The Inspire Scholarship assists Tennessee students who qualify for the Aspire portion of the Tennessee Education Lottery Scholarship Program.  The Inspire Scholarship is intended to enable students to live on campus, participate in a living and learning community and ease the transition from high school to college.

  • Requirements:
    • Minimum GPA: 3.0 and ACT >= 20
    • Resident of TN 
    • Based on FAFSA results, your family income is classified as "middle income"
    • Have received no other ETSU scholarships
  • Exclusions:
    • Students may not receive other scholarships in addition to the Promise Grant.
  • How to Apply:
  • Award Distribution:
    • The ETSU Promise Grant will be awarded on a first-come, first-served basis to qualified applicants.
    • The grant can be renewed for one additional year as long as you remain eligible for the the Hope (Lottery) scholarship.

  • Deadline:
    • Priority consideration is given to students who complete the scholarship application by March 1. Students admitted after March 1 will be considered while funding is available. Students must also complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid to determine eligibility for the Aspire award.
  • Requirements:
    • Meet all TN HOPE Aspire Award requirements
      • 3.0 high school GPA or 21 ACT or comparable SAT score AND
      • Parents’ adjusted gross income is equal to or less than $36,000 per year on FAFSA
    • Recipients will reside in the Inspire Living and Learning Community in Lucille Clement Hall.
    • Recipients will be required to purchase a meal plan.
    • Recipients will be required to participate in Preview (The scholarship award will cover the cost of attending Preview.)
