 Summer 2020 Renaissance Child Camp Information:

RENAISSANCE CAMPS ARE CANCELLED for Summer 2020 due to the COVID-19. Please watch for information about virtual programs we hope to offer.

 

First Grade through Sixth Grade

Discoverers: Entering First and Second grades

Explorers: Entering Third and Fourth grades

Adventurers: Entering Fifth and Sixth grades

Cost: $185 per week. Discounts for ETSU employees and multi-camp sign-up.

 

 

 

 

 

Session One

Date: June 15-19, 2020
Construction Zone: An Engineering Camp

 
This popular STEM camp features the areas of Engineering, Physics, and Math.
Campers will explore the fundamental concepts of energy, force, friction and other basic laws of physics. They will use their problem-solving skills to build vehicles, simple machines, roller coasters and other items. Our classroom will be filled with ramps, marble runs, and bridges with cars zipping down the hall! Grab your hard hat; you will truly be entering a construction zone!

Session Two

Date: June 22 - 26, 2020
Kitchestry: The Science of Cooking

Fills up Fast!


Chemical reactions, changes in the state of matter, and precise measurement are all topics covered in Kitchestry Camp. Cooking is indeed a science and the food prepared by the Renaissance Camp kids is always fabulous! Campers will cook in the Consumer Science Department's Foods Lab and take part in some wild and crazy kitchen science in our classroom. They will even create art projects with a food theme! Grab your apron, put on your chef's hat, and head for Kitchestry Camp for a fun and most delicious week!
Note: Due to limited space in the Foods Lab, there is a cap on the number of registrants for Kitchestry.

Session Three

Date: July 6 -10, 2020
Cool Chemistry Fun

Back for a Second Summer- kids love it!


Grab your safety googles and head for the Renaissance Camp's science lab! There is no better way to develop an understanding of the field of chemistry than to perform hands-on experiments, and that is what the campers will do. Concepts demonstrated include the states of matter, chemical reactions, and the difference between compounds, mixtures and solutions. There will be a lot of bubbling, fizzing and maybe an explosion, all guaranteed to capture the interest of the participants.

Session Four

Date: July 13- 17, 2020
STREAM: Science, Technology, Reading, Engineering, Arts, and Math

Truly for the Renaissance Child of the 21st Century!


STREAM Camp is STEM plus cross-curricular activities in Language Arts, Literature, and Art.
Different activities in science, technology, engineering, and math are featured each day.
Campers will be able to work with electrical circuits, make use of the computer lab, participate in problem solving, take part in a variety of science experiments and much more. It is Renaissance Camp's tried and true formula for an amazing week!

Session Five

Date: July 20-24, 2020
"POP" Camp (Preserve Our Planet): Ecology and Environmental Science


"POP" Camp will offer the participants an opportunity to investigate the ways that our environment affects the Earth and its inhabitants. Campers will take part in some creative activities to demonstrate the importance of taking care of the environment. They will use microscopes to investigate the world of microorganisms, and do soil and water sampling. They will use alternate forms of energy in designing a solar oven, wind power, and generate electricity from dirt. The campers will practice the 3 R's (REuse, REduce, Recycle) when they make upcycled art projects. These activities, and more, will make for a very POPular time!

Session Six

Date: July 27-31, 2020
Bot Camp: An Experience in Robotics

New!


Campers will be introduced to Robotics according to their age group. It will be similar to Construction Zone as there will be projects that involve a lot of activity. We will make projects such as Doodle Bots, Bristle Bots, and a robotic system. These robots will become your child's best friend!
