Border County In-State Eligibility
The in-state tuition program is available to residents in Virginia and North Carolina according to the county of their residence:
- Virginia: Grayson, Lee, Scott, Washington
- North Carolina: Ashe, Avery, Haywood, Madison, Mitchell, Watauga, Yancey
Graduate applicants may be required to complete the Residency Inquiry Form.
In order to receive this award, you should apply and be fully admitted to ETSU. In addition, you must meet the requirements as outlined below. Students are automatically considered for the in-state tuition rate at the time of admission.
NEW STUDENTS:
- Graduate students who are admitted under program admission requirements for their field of study would be provided the in-state rate. These students must remain in “good academic standing” for renewal of this rate each semester
CURRENTLY ENROLLED STUDENTS:
Currently enrolled students will be eligible to receive the in-state rate. If you are a current ETSU student who has moved to a county which qualifies for the Border County Tuition Program, complete the Border County Request for In-State Tuition Rate form and submit it to the appropriate admissions office along with documentation supporting the fact that your permanent domicile has changed to a qualifying county.
NON-DEGREE STUDENTS
- Graduate non-degree seeking students may be eligible for the in-state tuition program. Awards will be considered on the basis of availability of funds, a review of the student’s academic plans/goals, and the academic potential of the applicant. In order to be considered, students must complete the Border County Request for In-State Tuition Rate form and submit it to the appropriate admissions office along high school transcripts or GED scores and transcripts reflecting any college-level work completed.
NOTE: The fee waiver is applicable to the James H. Quillen College of Medicine students who received the Tennessee in-state fee as undergraduates or graduates and earned a degree from ETSU. The waiver is not applicable for use in the College of Pharmacy.
The costs associated with attending ETSU can include both direct and indirect costs. Please review ETSU's Cost of Attendance for more details.
