Education
PhD in Applied Mathematics with a Concentration in Computational Mathematics
Biography
I first got excited about mathematics in a PDE class at GA Tech when I realized PDEs could help describe traffic flow at a stop light. This was the first time I remember mathematics being explained in relation to everyday life. But in graduate school, I was fortunate to be in a group where most of the applied mathematics research was in collaboration with companies. That is when I truly realized all the cool applications for mathematics in the “real world”. When I started looking for tenure-track positions, the opening at ETSU was especially appealing because we knew and liked the area. However, what finally made my decision easy was my fellow faculty at ETSU. My colleagues are still some of the best around!
My family is what keeps me going outside of ETSU. I love nothing more than to spend time with my family. We love to travel, hike, play games or just watch TV shows and movies. My motto is always “family first” and I’m lucky to be blessed with a wonderful husband, three awesome children, more than I can count fur babies, and of course my amazing parents and brother.
