Allison is a junior Media and Communication major, concentrating in journalism and minoring in creative writing and American Sign Language. Last semester, she worked with Overlooked In Appalachian as part of her in-depth reporting class, where she wrote about the opioid crisis.
“I have loved being a part of the Media and Communication program,” she said. “These professors have served as not only educators but mentors. They work with students to help them achieve more. They give students the chance to make lifelong connections with people in the field and study material that will benefit them in the future. Everything I have learned in my journalism classes has built a strong foundation to support my future.
Outside of class, Allison is passionate about photography. She has her own photography business, she works with the East Tennessean as an arts and entertainment writer and she works with ETSU University Relations in social media. She hopes to complete an internship that mixes her passions for ASL, photography and journalism before she graduates.
