Glenn Greanya, Jr.
MSG(Ret) Glenn Greanya, Jr., entered into service in 1988 and attended basic training at Ft. Benning, Georgia as an Infantryman. After completion of basic training and AIT, he went on to Airborne School, and was promptly assigned to the 82nd Airborne Division at Ft Bragg, NC, with the esteemed 1/504 Parachute Infantry Regiment – “Devils in Baggy Pants.”
In December of 1989, as a young PFC, he was deployed to Panama for Operation Just Cause, to remove General Manuel Noriega from the leadership of that country. MSG(Ret) Greanya answered his Nation’s call of duty two more times: for Operations Desert Shield and Desert Storm; and for Operation Enduring Freedom, as part of the 2nd Battalion, 7th Calvary Regiment (“Ghost Battalion-Garry Owen”), 1st Cavalry Division.
MSG(Ret) Greanya held positions as a Rifleman, Squad Leader, Platoon Sergeant, and First Sergeant of a forward deployed infantry company in combat, and as Senior Military Instructor of the infamous "Buc" Battalion. He served with the 82nd Airborne, 101st Airborne, 3rd Battalion 75th Ranger Regiment, and the 1st Calvary Division. He is a graduate of the Army’s Ranger School, Airborne School, and Air Assault School.
His awards and decorations include 2 awards of the Combat Infantryman Badge (with silver service star), Expert Infantryman Badge, Airborne wings with Combat Jump Star, Air Assault wings, Drill Sergeant Badge, Legion of Merit, and Bronze Star with oak leaf cluster. He has also been inducted into the Infantry Regiment’s Order of Saint Maurice (Centurion level).
MSG(Ret) Greanya retired from the Army in 2010, after 22 years of service, and is currently pursuing a degree in Natural Resource Management at Texas Tech University in Lubbock, Texas. After graduating, he will return to government service with the Natural Resource Conservation Service, USDA. MSG(Ret) Greanya, his wife, Shannon, and their three children: Devon, Caitlyn, and Ashlyn, reside in TEXAS (the other “Big T”). HOOAH!
