Exercise & Sport Science!
Who We Are
The Department of Exercise & Sport Science at East Tennessee State University (ETSU) is part of the School of Human Performance and Sport Science, which is under the College of Health Sciences. We are committed to advancing human health, performance, and well-being through education, research, and applied practice. Our programs prepare students to become leaders in clinical, athletic, and research settings by integrating foundational sciences with hands-on experience.
At the undergraduate level, the BS in Exercise Science equips students with the knowledge and skills to pursue careers in allied health, fitness, wellness, and sport science. Through initiatives like Exercise is Medicine on Campus and Get Active Bucs, our students actively promote physical activity and wellness within the university community. Our students can seek research and scholarship opportunities through the Exercise Science Undergraduate Research Honors Program.
At the graduate level, our MS in Sport Science & Coach Education and PhD in Sport Physiology & Performance provide specialized training in sport science, coaching, and athlete development. Our students engage directly with athletes and coaches, applying evidence-based strategies to optimize performance.
Through rigorous academics, experiential learning, and research, we strive to enhance human movement, promote lifelong health, and contribute to the evolving fields of exercise science and sport performance.
