Office of the Dean

The Administrative Council:

provides the avenue for formal communication between departmental chairs, associate deans, and the Dean of the College of Medicine;
shall advise the Dean regarding the formulation of general policies governing conduct of operations of the College of Medicine and evaluation of effectiveness of such policies;
may submit recommendations on matters affecting the interest of the College of Medicine to the Dean for his action;
may call meetings of the faculty;
may prepare items to be included in the agenda of faculty meetings;
shall consider matters referred to it by the Faculty Advisory Council, the Faculty, and the Dean;
may consult with the Dean concerning his recommendation for appointments including that of department chairs, associate deans, assistant deans, interim chairs, and other key administrative personnel;
may call upon other members of the Faculty and appoint ad hoc committees to assist the Council in the performances of its duties;
may organize itself, subject to the bylaws, in any manner appropriate to the accomplishment of its duties;
may review specific policy actions with broad institutional impact.

The charge for this committee is reviewed by the Dean at the start of each academic year, August 1.
