Financial Aid and Scholarship Committee
Charge
The charge of the Financial Aid and Scholarship Committee is:
- To establish procedures for application of institutional financial aid and to establish procedures to be used for evaluation of these applications.
- To act together as a committee to determine recipients of awards using donor criteria and information from the proposed recipient(s) aid profile.
- To make award recommendations as needed to the Dean of the College of Medicine for award of available internal scholarship funds.
- To review requests for assistance deemed to be unusual by the Director of Financial Services and to review appeals from medical students concerning denial of aid.
The charge for this committee is reviewed by the Dean at the start of each academic year, August 1.
Structure
The Financial aid and Scholarship Committee shall consist of the following:
- Two Basic Science Department faculty members
- Two Clinical Science Department faculty members
- Two Community representatives (one of whom may be a practicing physician)
- One University faculty member
- One Resident representative (appointment for duration of residency)
- Four medical students - One from each freshman, sophomore, junior and senior class (appointment for duration of matriculation)
- One Associate Dean of Student Affairs (ex officio, non-voting)
- One Director of Development (ex officio, non-voting)
- One Director of Financial Services (ex officio, non-voting)
- One Assistant Director of Financial Services (ex officio, non-voting)
- One Administrative Assistant to the Associate Dean of Student Affairs (ex officio, non-voting)
