Mentor Stories

During my first year here at ETSU, I discovered about the ETSU B.E.S.T. Mentoring Program and became interested in joining. It was honestly one of the best decisions I made because I was able be paired up with a mentor who had been through similar experiences, had taken classes I would have to take in the future, and gave me advice as well as shares skills that helped me better succeed not only academically but socially too. Therefore, I decided to become a mentor myself and share all I learned with another person. Through this program I gained so much knowledge about myself, how to become a great leader/role model, and was given the chance to impact and help someone else in return.

My experience as a mentor has been a wonderful one. I have been able to meet new people and learn different and interesting things from them. BEST Mentoring provides an opportunity to help other student succeed in college, and at the same time enjoy the college experience and I am happy to be a part of such program. Being a mentor is a wonderful experience and I'll recommend it to anyone who is willing to help a fellow student.

I love being a mentor with the ETSU B.E.S.T. Program. I have been involved with this program for 2 years, and have learned so much. Each year, we are assigned new mentees, and hopefully still in contact with the old ones. We help students find their place here at ETSU and help make it their home. It's rewarding to watch these students flourish, and I love being a part of it.

Being a BEST mentor has been one of the highlights of my college career so far.  I believe the program has allowed me to meet new people around campus and form lasting relationships. It's so encouraging to be part of a community with a common goal to see each other succeed at ETSU and beyond!
