The ETSU Child and Family Health Institute (CFHI) was founded in 2020 to create ties between the university and community. Teams work on projects to advance knowledge surrounding child and family health. Explore our website to find online sources and best practices for understanding and addressing child and family health issues including resources compiled by members of our institute.
The CFHI supports ETSU students, faculty, and staff in collaborative efforts to improve child and family health and well-being through research, education, service, program development, and advocacy in our region. If you would like to assist us in our efforts, please consider donating.
CFHI FOCUS AREAS
History
This institute addresses issues affecting women, children, and families in the context
of their communities. Our definition of “health” includes developmental, educational,
physical, mental, and behavioral health and recognizes the importance of socio-ecological
influences on health and wellbeing.
In 2017 faculty in the Colleges of Medicine, Public Health, Arts & Sciences, and the Clemmer College formed a working group to facilitate collaborative research, training, and service in the area of child and family health.
The working group proposed the establishment of a Child and Family Health Institute at ETSU to coordinate campus scholarly efforts and the CFHI was established in March 2020.
