Nurse Family Partnership
Nurse- Family Partnership (NFP) is an evidence- based, community health program that serves low-income pregnant women.
We provide pregnant women with their own personal registered nurse who will provide support, advice, and wonderful information during pregnancy and after the baby arrives up to 2 years of age. Our nurses will travel to you, so you don’t have to arrange transportation.
During visits, nurse home visitors will educate on personal and environmental health (both during pregnancy and after delivery), infant/toddler health and development, and parenting skills. Mothers will also receive support and education on meeting life goals, and will be referred to community agencies, as needed.
Our History
The ETSU Northeast Tennessee Nurse-Family Partnership (NETNFP) Program is part of the national Nurse Family Partnership (NFP) program. The NFP Program is an evidence-based program that provides vital support to low income pregnant women to promote and support healthy pregnancies and care after the baby is born.
Our program has served communities in Northeast Tennessee since 2017 and receives funding by the Tennessee Department of Health. In 2023, the Tennessee Department Health awarded additional funding to expand the program. Currently, the NETNFP serves nine counties in upper northeast Tennessee: Carter, Cocke, Greene, Hancock, Hawkins, Johnson, Sullivan, Unicoi, and Washington. Starting July 1, 2024, the program expanded to provide services to an additional four counties: Claiborne, Grainger, and Hamblen.
