ETSU's Early Childhood Education (Early Care and Education Concentration), M.A., is a comprehensive program that prepares students for dynamic roles in program administration, family engagement, community outreach, research, and teaching. Students will build professional skills while completing coursework designed to make a difference in the lives of children and childcare.
Who would be interested in this degree?
This is a non-licensure degree. It is designed for teachers who already have licensure and want a master's degree. Other interested students may include graduate students who are not teachers, but who want to work in early childhood settings outside of public schools.
Strong Foundations
Students will take courses designed to provide a foundation of knowledge concerning the young child, birth through eight years old. These core courses focus on child development, their unique learning abilities, parental influence, designing environments, and research methods, and the history and philosophy of early childhood education.
The Department of Early Childhood Education believes that students and faculty are partners who are engaged in a continual learning process to gain the skills to be teachers, researchers, professionals, and leaders in early care and education.
This online degree program requires 36 credit hours and is completed two courses per semester. The time to completion is two academic years (including two courses each summer).

Step 3 Choose "Graduate," select your student type (domestic or international), select "Master's," term, then choose Early Childhood Education and complete the remainder of the form.
