Dr. Katelyn Alexander, PharmD, Director of the Office of Experiential Education and Associate Professor of Pharmacy Practice, joined the faculty at ETSU in 2012.  Her training and background is in community pharmacy practice.  Prior to her administrative appointment, Dr. Alexander worked with several local independent pharmacies to provide clinical patient care services and helped to develop and launch the ETSU Charitable Pharmacy inside the Johnson City Community Health Center, where she served as pharmacist-in-charge upon opening.  She also assisted as a practice transformation coach for several regional pharmacies as part of the national Flip the Pharmacy initiative.  Dr. Alexander previously served as the Residency Program Director for the college’s PGY1 community-based pharmacy residency program from 2017-2020.  She has taught in various didactic, laboratory, and experiential courses throughout the curriculum, and continues to teach in the Nonprescription Pharmacotherapy, Natural Medicines, and Self-Care courses and serve as a facilitator in the Interprofessional Education (IPE) series.  Lastly, Dr. Alexander helps to advise the college’s nationally-recognized APhA-ASP chapter.  Her professional areas of interest include community pharmacy practice advancement, career development, and all things experiential education.  Outside of work, Dr. Alexander enjoys spending time with her family and her dogs, cooking, and cheering on the Ohio State Buckeyes.
