Welcome to 7th and 8th Grade Math!
My name is Lucas J. Stinson and I hold a Bachelor’s degree from Florida State University and a Master’s degree from Florida International University. I have been teaching, primarily middle school, for 13 years in Nashville Public Schools, Unicoi County Schools, and Washington County Schools.
Having taught multiple grades and at multiple schools, I have grown a special fondness for the later middle school years due to their unique social, emotional, and academic needs. Being able to witness the tremendous amount of growth during these years is a wonder and being a part of the students’ transitional time is truly a privilege.
I am passionate about fostering well-rounded individuals who enjoy asking questions and teaching them to seek their own personal growth in the pursuit of personal goals. I feel strongly in the power of Math, the role it plays in every facet of life, and in challenging students to look around and see it everywhere. Math is truly a universal language that can unify people from all walks of life.
Outside of school, I am very happily married to another University School teacher, Kayla Stinson, who teaches 5th grade ELA and Social Studies. Together we have two children: my daughter Kendall who is currently a student at USchool and my son Liam who we hope to join us at USchool his Kindergarten year. We have a dog, Jake, and two cats, Waylon and Demitri who round out a wonderful and full house.
