BBA IN MANAGEMENT: Five Concentrations
-
General Management
The General Management Concentration provides a solid background in economics, accounting/business finance, decision science, human resources, operations management, marketing, and information systems within the landscape of evolving global business issues.
These broad set of skills and knowledge can be applied across various industries and sectors making you adaptable to different roles and organizations. There is coursework and experiential learning opportunities focused on developing leadership skills: motivating teams, solving complex problems, making strategic decisions, and effectively communicating and negotiating.
In addition to business-specific knowledge, the General Management concentration equips you with transferable skills that are highly valued in today's job market. These skills are sought after by employers across industries, making you a competitive candidate in a wide range of roles.
Learnings are leveraged through a capstone course focused on strategic management practices and applications.
-
Human Resource Management
The Human Resources Concentration provides background on all aspects of human resources management and organizational leadership as defined by the Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM), and prepares graduates to obtain their SHRM Certified Professional Designation after graduation.
In today's competitive business landscape, HR managers are increasingly viewed as strategic business partners. They collaborate with senior leaders to align HR initiatives with overall business objectives. By understanding the organization's goals and challenges, HR managers can contribute to strategic decision-making, provide insights on workforce planning, and develop talent management strategies that drive organizational success.
-
International Business
The International Business Concentration combines elements of international economics, finances, marketing, and business law with aspects of world history, international relations, and politics. Experiential learning opportunities provide significant language and cultural opportunities to enhance the student’s exposure to global cultures and geographies.
International business allows you to have a global perspective and work on a broader scale. You have the opportunity to interact with people from different cultures, navigate diverse business environments, and tackle international challenges. This global exposure can be intellectually stimulating and provide a sense of adventure and exploration.
-
Legal Studies
The Legal Studies Concentration provides foundations in legal concepts that can be applied across different business disciplines. Career possibilities for business graduates with functional knowledge of legal issues include general contract management, human resources, regulatory compliance, intellectual property, environmental compliance, product liability, securities, antitrust, banking, real estate, and international contracts, to name a few.
The Legal Studies concentration does not qualify students to take the bar exam or practice law: however, it does provide familiarity with the legal thought process that students advancing to law school will experience.
-
Hospitality & Tourism
Hospitality & Tourism Concentration students engage in a wide range of work that encompasses various aspects of the industry such as hotel and resort management, event planning, travel and tourism consulting, destination marketing, and hospitality operations. These professionals create exceptional guest experiences, manage accommodation facilities, coordinate events and conferences, develop marketing strategies to attract visitors.
They also contribute to sustainable tourism practices, analyze market trends, handle customer service, and collaborate with diverse teams to deliver memorable and personalized services. Whether working in hotels, restaurants, travel agencies, event venues, or tourism boards, tourism and hospitality majors play a vital role in shaping the vibrant and ever-evolving landscape of the industry.
