Dr. Strode is on his second appointment at ETSU and has worked with the TRIO - Student Support Services at ETSU for almost 17 years, 2000 to 2014 and 2020 to current. From 2014 to 2018, he work in the private sector as an industrial contractor, and from 2018 to 2020, he worked for the TRIO - Student Support Services program at Tusculum University. Dr. Strode is committed to student development, particularly as it applies to first-generation and low-income college students. He was the first person in his family to earn Bachelors, Masters, and Doctorate degrees. He has taught all versions of the ETSU First Year Experience course and is currently teaching LEAD 2110, Introduction to Leadership Effectiveness. Dr. Strode has teaching and scholarship interests in Design Your Life, or Life Design, Sociological Theory, Leadership Theory & Practice, and Student Success.
In his free time, he spends time with his family, reading, and playing bass guitar.
He also enjoys outdoor sports, especially skiing, fishing, camping, and canoeing.
