- Sepsis-associated organ injury
- Sepsis-induced immune dysfunction
- Cardiac remodeling and heart failure
Dr. Yang’s research focuses on the mechanisms underlying sepsis, immune dysfunction and cardiovascular disease. His laboratory investigates vascular and endothelial injury in sepsis, as well as the cellular networks that contribute to prolonged immune suppression following infection. He also studies immune-stromal interactions that drive cardiac inflammation, fibrosis and adverse remodeling, with the goal of identifying new therapeutic targets to improve patient outcomes.
