Johnson City Medical Center
Located adjacent to the Quillen College of Medicine campus is the Johnson City Medical
Center (JCMC), a 407-bed non-profit hospital which serves northeast Tennessee, southwest
Virginia, western North Carolina and southeast Kentucky. The medical facilities include
a Level I Trauma Center, Center for Women's Health, Children's Hospital, Regional
Perinatal Center, a rehabilitation center and a skilled nursing facility for transitional
care. JCMC is the flagship hospital of the Ballad Health System.
Holston Valley Medical Center
Located less than a 30-minute drive from Johnson City, Holston Valley Medical Center
(HVMC) is a 345-bed hospital which offers full acute care facilities including a Level
I Trauma Center, a newly renovated emergency department and operating suites, a cancer
center, a heart institute and a comprehensive surgical center. HVMC holds a national
place in the Top 100 Hospitals for neurological care and is named a Top 50 Cardiovascular
Hospital by IBM Watson Health. HVMC is part of the Ballad Health System.
Franklin Woods Community Hospital
Located nine minutes from the Quillen College of Medicine campus is Franklin Woods
Community Hospital (FWCH), the state's first "green" hospital, offering a full array
of primary care and some specialty services. FWCH opened in 2010 with approximately
240,000 square feet. It is an acute care 80-bed hospital with general acute medical
services, a family birth center, 24/7 emergency services, comprehensive diagnostic
imaging and advanced surgical services. FWCH is part of the Ballad Health System.
Sycamore Shoals Hospital
Approximately a 15-minute drive from Johnson City, Sycamore Shoals Hospital (SSH)
is located in Elizabethton. The 121-bed hospital offers a certified chest pain, heart
failure program, certified acute stroke-ready program, geriatric psychiatric services,
advanced diagnostic imaging, a critical care/intensive care unit, laboratory, pharmacy,
diagnostic imaging, an inpatient geriatric psych unit, nuclear medicine stress testing
and a medical/surgery unit. SSH is a part of the Ballad Health System.
