Dr. Isaza graduated from Wake Forest University School of Medicine and completed his psychiatric residency and child/adolescent psychiatry fellowship training at Tripler Army Medical Center. He served as Division Psychiatrist for the Army's 10th Mountain Division (Infantry), providing operational planning and supervision of psychologists, social workers, and technicians caring for the 20,000 soldiers in the division. He deployed to Afghanistan with the Division headquarters and supported the regional Command Surgeon as the senior behavioral health officer and Chief of Clinical Operations. He was ultimately appointed to serve as the chief consultant to the Afghanistan Command Surgeon, overseeing behavior health support for the entire Afghanistan Theater of Operations.
Returning from deployment, he was assigned oversight of development and implementation of the first-ever intensive outpatient program established at Fort Drum, NY. Leaving the Army in 2017, he joined ETSU and the Department of Psychiatry at Quillen College of Medicine, where he serves as Assistant Professor and as Medical Director of the Willow Unit (inpatient child/adolescent psychiatry) at Woodridge Psychiatric Hospital. Dr. Isaza currently teaches medical students and residents in addition to his role as attending physician on the inpatient unit.
