Bachelor of Science (B.S) in Health Administration
The B.S. in Health Administration equips students with the knowledge and skills necessary
to become effective health care administrators capable of managing and delivering
health services. The health care industry is the largest industry in our nation and
is experiencing rapid employment growth. Students pursue employment in hospital systems,
medical practices, clinics, nursing homes, long-term care facilities, public health
agencies, and other health-related organizations. Students develop strong leadership,
communication, and managerial skills in team development, healthcare strategy, planning,
operations, quality and process improvement, legal and ethical issues, budgeting and
financial management. Graduates may be eligible to take the Tennessee State Licensing
Exam for Nursing Home Administrator. The BSHA is nationally accredited by the Council
on Education for Public Health.
Master of Health Administration (MHA)

The Master of Health Administration (MHA) is a professional degree preparing graduates for leadership positions in healthcare administration. It indicates to potential employers that the student has obtained a high level of knowledge related to the health services management environment. The MHA is accredited through the Council on Education in Public Health (CEPH).

Master of Public Health for Health Leadership & Policy

The MPH in Public Health Leadership & Policy prepares graduates for leadership roles in public health and health policy through an applied curriculum focused on practice and interprofessional experiences.
Graduates are ready to effectively lead a public health organization using their budgeting, finance, strategic planning, and policy design, implementation, and analysis skills. This concentration is ideal for students interested in public health, health policy, and health disparities research to prepare for careers in the workforce as well as for advanced terminal degrees (e.g., DrPH, PhD, JD). The MPH is nationally accredited by the Council on Education for Public Health.
Doctor of Public Health in Health Management and Policy
The Doctor of Public Health (Dr.P.H.) program offers an advanced professional degree
designed to prepare graduates for leadership and practice positions within public
health and health systems, as well as for faculty positions in academic institutions.
It prepares practitioners with competence in administration, advocacy, problem solving,
research, and communication. Graduates are qualified to serve in a variety of leadership
capacities at state, national, and international levels, enhancing the public’s health
in both rural and urban settings.
Certificates
Health Care Management (HCMC) Graduate Certificate
This is an ONLINE graduate 13 credit hour (4-course) program focused on leadership
and strategic management in the health care environment. The certificate can be completed
in as few as 9 months (2 semesters). Students take required courses in health systems
and policies, healthcare finance, and human resources management, and choose electives
in the areas of quality improvement, data-informed decision making, strategic planning
and marketing, health care law, and health economics. Students can apply all 13 certificate
hours towards the MHA degree upon admission into the MHA program.
Health Data Analytics Graduate Certificate
(offered fully on ground and fully online)
This is a 13-credit multidisciplinary program that includes developing and building
skills in the foundations of epidemiology and biostatistics, data visualization, data
modeling, and using data to inform decisions to improve organizations and programs. There
is no requirement for previous coding experience (such as SAS, SQL, or Python coding),
but the program will be more flexible for students who have previous coding experience.
The certificate can be completed in as few as 9 months (2 semesters)
Public Health Graduate Certificate
(offered fully on ground and fully online)
The Graduate Certificate in Public Health is a 16-credit hour program that provides
training in the foundations of public health, including health management and policy,
social and behavioral sciences, epidemiology and statistical analysis. The certificate
can be completed in as few as 9 months (2 semesters). The program facilitates professional
skill development of working professionals while meeting the public health training
needs of students in graduate or professional degree programs. Students can apply
certificate hours towards the MPH or MHA degree programs upon admission into the program.
