Supply chain and digital tech summit returns to ETSU Nov. 15

East Tennessee State University’s Department of Management and Supply Chain invites the public to the 2024 Appalachian Highlands Supply Chain and Digital Technology Summit on Friday, Nov. 15. The event runs from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., followed by an optional networking lunch, at the ETSU Martin Center for the Arts.  

The summit’s theme, “Understanding and Optimizing the Supply Chain Ecosystem (SCE),” will focus on the role of SCE in regional development and how technology can drive innovation and economic progress. Attendees will learn how anchor firms like Honeywell and Eastman Chemical are advancing the region’s infrastructure and fostering the growth of innovative small and medium-sized enterprises.  

The summit will also focus on helping the region recover by providing a session and workshop on supply chain recovery following Hurricane Helene. This session will address the effects on regional businesses and the community, including humanitarian logistics and a path forward for the region to rebuild and recover.  

Other topics include:  

  • Integrating technology to drive performance and value: How AI, deep learning and natural language processing are transforming supply chains. 
  • Upgrading supply chain technology for an AI-driven world: Strategies to stay competitive with AI advancements. 
  • Hurricane Helene and supply chain: Regional impacts and strategies for recovery.  
  • Developing the supply chain ecosystem: Supporting regional innovation, sustainability and economic growth. 
  • Building entrepreneurial supply chains: Creating agile, entrepreneurial supply chains within local ecosystems. 
  • AI in the supply chain workshop: A hands-on workshop about implementing generative AI technologies. 

Keynote speakers include: 

  • Chen Lin: Chief data analytics officer and vice president of Digital Integrated Supply Chain, Honeywell International. 
  • David Galik: General manager of Bell Textron, Inc. 
  • Petra Wood: Project director supply chain, circular economy at Eastman Chemical Company
