Black Affairs Association
WHAT DO Y'ALL DO?
The Black Affairs Association is an organization that is accessible to all students. It serves as a source of encouragement for students to become involved in various campus-wide activities.
The primary purpose of this organization is to provide a wholesome and supportive environment where students of color are able to interact and participate in activities together. The Black Affairs Association sponsors and co-sponsors major events and activities throughout the year. This group has many outstanding achievements, including awards in multicultural and social programming for the campus.
In the Fall semester, Black Affairs sponsors the most attended Homecoming event, the Homecoming Comedy Show. Some of the comedians featured in the past include Joe Clair, Lav Luv, Big Sean, B-Phlat, Tyler Craig, Double D, Gary Owen, Michael Blackson, Redbone, and Ms. Sylvia.
The Black Affairs Association has introduced many notable African-American artists
and activists to the ETSU community, including Maya Angelou, Case, Nikki Giovanni,
and Ossie Davis (in co-sponsorship with Eastman Chemical Company). Other special events
sponsored by the Black Affairs Association include social activities to welcome new
students, a celebration of the birthday of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., and Black
History Month activities.
