The East Tennessee State University story began more than 100 years ago with a gift
– a gift of land from entrepreneur George L. Carter. That land provided the campus
home for ETSU, an institution that ever since has been improving the quality of life
of others.
That tradition of giving to ETSU, started by Mr. Carter in 1911, would continue for
the next century. Through the generosity of alumni and friends, significant investments
are being made in today’s students and tomorrow’s leaders. These gifts have transformed
lives, enhanced our campus, and strengthened communities here and around the globe.
From scholarships, building projects, new opportunities for faculty, and emerging
academic programs, your gift will touch many lives.
