Coming from Tri-Cities Airport:

  1. Start from the Tri-Cities Airport,
  2. Turn left onto Hwy 75.
  3. Go approximately 10 miles; turn left onto I-26 East toward Johnson City.
  4. Take EXIT 24; turn left onto University Parkway.
  5. Continue on University Parkway for about 2.0 miles.
  6. Get into left-hand turn lane before intersection of State of Franklin Road.
  7. Turn left onto State of Franklin Road.
  8. The Carnegie Hotel is a quarter of a mile on the right (across from East Tennessee State University)

Coming from Asheville, North Carolina:

  1. Start from US 19 N/US-23N.
  2. Merge onto I-26 W for approximately 39 miles.
  3. Take EXIT 24--Turn left onto University Parkway.
  4. Continue on University Parkway for about 2.0 miles.
  5. Get into left-hand turn lane before intersection at State of Franklin Road.
  6. Turn left onto State of Franklin Road.
  7. The Carnegie Hotel is a quarter of a mile on the right.

Coming from Boone, North Carolina:

  1. Start from US-321/US-421/NC-194.
  2. Turn left onto US 321; continue for about 23 miles.
  3. Turn left onto US 321/TN67; continue for about 9 miles.
  4. Turn right onto Veterans Memorial Parkway; continue for about 5 miles.
  5. Turn left onto US-321/TN-91/Broad Street (which will become University Parkway); continue for about 10 miles.
  6. Get in the left-hand turn lane at the intersection with State of Franklin Road.
  7. Turn left onto State of Franklin Road.
  8. The Carnegie Hotel is a quarter of a mile on the right.

Coming from Kingsport, Bristol, Knoxville, Tennessee:

  1. Start from I-26.
  2. Bear right on I-26 ramp at EXIT 19.
  3. Turn right onto State of Franklin Road./Hwy 381.
  4. Continue on State of Franklin Road for about 5 miles.
  5. Go under the pedestrian walkway.
  6. The Carnegie Hotel is on the left.

Lodging for SASCOL

The following hotels are within three miles of the ETSU campus. Please be aware that the annual storytelling festival in nearby Jonesborough occurs during the first weekend in October, and it attracts some travelers who arrive early and book many rooms. It would be advisable to book your Johnson City accommodations as soon as feasible. If you are willing to venture a little further out, Johnson City and nearby Jonesborough have many other hotels and bed and breakfasts.
