Dr. Ashley Bentley is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Accountancy. She received both her B.B.A and M.Acc. degrees from East Tennessee State University. She later completed her Ed.D. with a concentration in Higher Education Leadership. Dr. Bentley is a licensed certified public accountant and a native of East Tennessee.
Prior to beginning her career in academics in 2014, Dr. Bentley spent ten years working within PwC’s assurance practice. During her time in public accounting she managed audits of both public and private clients, including Fortune 500 companies. She also served as a classroom instructor within the firm’s learning and development group.
Dr. Bentley primarily teaches Principles of Accounting, Intermediate Accounting, and Auditing courses. She is also the faculty advisor for the Eta Omega chapter of Beta Alpha Psi. She has a passion for innovative instruction and active learning in the classroom. In 2018, Dr. Bentley implemented an inverted pedagogical approach while teaching Intermediate Accounting with the aim to create a student-centered learning environment. The “flipped classroom” has been well received by students and she looks forward to finding other ways to engage students in the learning process.
