ETSU's Department of Computing Offers Three Undergraduate Degrees
- The B.S. in Computer Science offers courses in object-oriented programming and design, algorithms, computer systems, computer networks, operating systems, artificial intelligence, and computation and complexity theory. It requires a minor in mathematics.
- The B.S. in Computing offers two concentration pathways:
- The Cybersecurity and Modern Networks concentration, a cohort-based junior-senior level program with limited enrollment, offers courses in secure software development and systems deployment; cloud, wireless, and mobile computing; and sensor-based (Internet of Things) computing.
- The Information Technology concentration focuses on web development, database management, and network administration. It offers courses in client- and server-side web development, visual programming, databases, and system administration.
- The B.S. in Information Systems focuses on the intelligent enterprise: business information systems, business software development, and business process management. It requires a concentration in Business Administration or Healthcare Management and Analytics.
These programs share a set of common computing courses. Each program of study emphasizes essential technical and professional skills, including written and oral communication, project management, and teamwork.
Costs, Financial Aid, and Scholarships
ETSU's Office of Financial Aid maintains information on college costs (see here and here) and sources of financial aid, including grants, loans, selected scholarships, and service positions.
Computing majors are encouraged to apply for scholarships offered by the university, the College of Business and Technology, and the Department of Computing. They include ETSU's Honors In Discipline scholarships, which waive tuition for recipients, and community outreach scholarships, which waive out-of-state tuition for incoming students.
Advisement, Inquiries, Applications
Department of Computing advisement booklets and program flowcharts are available on the site's advisement webpage.
More information about the Department of Computing's undergraduate policies and programs can be obtained from the department's undergraduate advisors or program coordinators.
