Welcome
Thank you for visiting the Department of Environmental and Occupational Health and Safety Sciences web page. If you are prospective or current student, there is a lot of useful information here about employment opportunities, potential career tracts, curriculum requirements, and current faculty/staff. There is also information about opportunities to participate in extracurricular activities with the Student Tennessee Environmental Health Association (TEHA). For those visiting for other reasons, you will find pertinent information about our current faculty, their specific research interests, and departmental resources such as the long-standing Environmental Health Sciences Laboratory (EHSL), the Air Quality Research Laboratory (AQRL), and the Industrial Hygiene Characterization Laboratory (IHCL). The members of our faculty are active scholars and teachers that enjoy working closely with both undergraduate and graduate students. Because of the size of the department, you will have many opportunities to interact with our faculty members, both in and outside of the classroom. Our staff is knowledgeable, enthusiastic, and always willing and able to assist.
Choosing Environmental and Occupational Health and Safety Sciences as a career path will lead you to a challenging but satisfying and noble career. There are opportunities in a wide range of areas, including environmental health inspection, environmental engineering science, environmental and industrial toxicology, climate and health relationships, air and water quality and safety, regulatory science and administration, occupational health/industrial hygiene, and safety management. You can secure jobs working for the Federal Government, State Government, Local Government, Industry, and Consulting firms.
If we can answer any questions, provide additional material or, if you find something missing or a broken link, feel free to call or email anyone in the department.
Sincerely,
