All ETSU students receive a university network username, student identification number (E#), and email address, which is provided in the admission letter. Students receive important campus messages through ETSU email. To activate your account, or reset your password, visit https://webapps.etsu.edu/AccountActivation . The account activation page will ask for your ETSU ID number (Enumber or E#), date of birth, and other information to confirm your identity. ETSU uses single-sign-on, so this also resets the password for Goldlink, campus computer lab computers, Desire2Learn, Wi-Fi, and most other ETSU services. Please note that students may not have full access to some campus computing resources (such as wireless and Desire2Learn) until they have registered. Graduate students are admitted into one of three categories: unconditionally, unconditionally with provisions, or as a non-degree seeking student. Students admitted unconditionally with provisions must complete specified provisions or requirements in order to maintain their standing in their degree program. Non-degree students may transfer no more than nine (9) hours into a graduate degree program. Your admission category is stated in your admission letter.
An offer of admission to the ETSU Graduate School is made for a specific semester. A student who cannot enter the program for the specified semester may request a deferral of admission from the graduate program coordinator for up to one year from the initial term of admission. Decisions of the graduate program coordinator are final. The Graduate Admission Deferment Form must be received by the graduate program coordinator prior to the beginning of the original admission term. Note: Students must reapply for scholarships, financial aid, graduate assistantships, or other opportunities that were offered at the time of the original admission.

Out-of-state students taking exclusively online courses are eligible for a lower tuition rate (eRate), which is approximately a 50% savings when compared to out-of-state tuition rates. Eligibility Verification for Entitlements Act (EVEA)
The Tennessee State Legislature enacted legislation entitled the Tennessee Eligibility Verification for Entitlements Act (EVEA), which became effective on October 1, 2012 (TN Public Chapter No. 1061FSB No. 1325). As a result of this legislation, all state public institutions of higher education in Tennessee must verify that students who receive state public benefits are U.S. citizens or lawfully present in the United States. In order to verify eligibility for benefits such as in-state tuition, graduate assistantships, tuition scholarships or other types of scholarships, students must provide documentation such as a scanned copy or picture of a driver’s license, birth certificate, passport, visa, or permanent resident identification. Fee Payment (NOTE: Invoices for tuition and fees are not mailed.)
Students may pay fees online, by mail, or in person. To access your account statement, visit http://goldlink.etsu.edu . Make payments online using check-routing information, or Visa, Discover, or Master Card credit cards (have your student ID number available), or mail checks to: ETSU Bursar Financial Services, Box 70732, Johnson City, TN 37614-1710, or pay in person at the Bursar’s Office, Burgin Dossett Hall (also known as the Administration Bldg.) room 202.
Graduate and Professional Student Association (GPSA)
The Graduate and Professional Student Association (GPSA) of East Tennessee State University is a student-managed organization whose membership
is open to all currently enrolled post-baccalaureate degree-seeking students. The
primary function is to improve the quality of graduate and professional education
and student experience at ETSU. Graduate and Professional students represent approximately
20% of the total student population at ETSU, and the teaching, clinical, and research
activities of these students present genuine needs that are considerably different
from those of the undergraduate student population. The GPSA application is available

Graduate Assistantships and Tuition Scholarships
Excellent sources of financial aid for qualified graduate students are graduate assistantships and tuition scholarships. Ask your graduate coordinator if you are eligible, and check postings frequently for available positions at https://www.etsu.edu/gradschool/funding/gats.php . For information regarding the rules and regulations for these positions, refer to the handbook for GA/TS positions.
Graduate students in a degree or certificate program are assigned a graduate coordinator, advisor, or advisory committee. Your coordinator’s name and email is provided in your admission letter. Non-degree seeking students do not have graduate coordinators, but may wish to speak with one if they are planning an application to a degree program.
Graduate Program Specialists

Health Insurance (international students only)

Many university services require presentation of a student ID card. For more information visit http://www.etsu.edu/students/idservices/ . Students in distance programs or cohort groups may visit ID Services’ FAQ’s page to learn how to obtain an ID card.
Students need their student ID number (Enumber or E#) for registration, checking grades, viewing their university account, and other university processes. Students ID numbers are stated in their admission letter. Students may also search for their ID by visiting https://selfserv.etsu.edu/pls/PROD/bywsenl.p_get_enumber .
The State of Tennessee requires all students enrolled in state colleges and universities to meet immunization requirements before enrollment. Please see the requirements.

Below is information pertaining specifically to international students.
- Estimated annual cost of attendance per year is $43,831 for the 2020-21 academic year. Note: Tuition is subject to change without notice. - International students should be aware of their visa status, visa requirements, and deadlines. The Office of International Student and Scholar Services offers orientations for new international students immediately before the spring and fall semesters. - In accordance with the TBR Policy on Admission (2:03:00:00), East Tennessee State University requires that all international, nonimmigrant students and scholars under the F and J status maintain accident, illness, medical evacuation and repatriation insurance on themselves, as a condition to their admission, enrollment, research duties, and employment at the university. Students under any of the J status categories must also carry accident, illness, medical evacuation and repatriation insurance for spouses and dependents. - All international students must complete a test for tuberculosis (TB) AFTER arriving at ETSU. For additional information about immunizations, please click here .
Information regarding the online, self-paced orientation for new graduate students will be emailed closer to the beginning of the semester.
Registration is through Goldlink, the ETSU student portal. A video tutorial is also available along with additional information on the Registrar’s Registration Resources page. In addition to registering for classes, GoldLink is used to pay fees, manage financial aid, view registration holds, view and request transcripts, and perform many other tasks. Sign in using your university network username and password. Students who do not know their username or need to reset their password should visit the webpage here. Permanent residents of Tennessee may be required to submit the Residency Information Form (short form) or the Residency Inquiry Form (long form) if additional information is necessary. The form must be received in the ETSU Graduate School before the second week of classes during fall and spring semesters (the date is adjusted for condensed summer sessions).
