The Honors College Community
The Undergraduate Research Honors Program Scholars (formerly HID) enjoy many benefits of being an honors student at ETSU
URHP Curriculum
The Undergraduate Research Honors Program at ETSU offers a specially designed, in-depth,
hands-on honors curriculum in each discipline. Providing scholars with a focused experience
in area of interest along with undergraduate research opportunities taught by seasoned
faculty.
Research
Opportunity for participation in undergraduate research and creative activity in their
field, including completion of the year-long Senior Honors Thesis project. Scholars
also have special opportunities to receive funding to present their research at academic
conferences.
URHP Scholarship
Beginning Fall 2023, newly admitted students (both Tennessee residents and Out-of-State)
who participate in the Undergraduate Research Honors Program will receive a scholarship
of $2500 ($1250 per semester) towards tuition. This scholarship is awarded for a maximum
of eight semesters of study, contingent on maintaining eligibility. The 8-semester
maximum is cumulative with other ETSU tuition scholarships, such as APS. For URHP
students admitted prior to Fall 2023, continued enrollment in a program does not guarantee
awarding of a scholarship. Scholarships are awarded to eligible students for both
fall and spring semesters as they become available. Program Coordinators will submit
names to the Office of Undergraduate Research & Creative Activites of students to
be considered for scholarships.
Advising
An Undergraduate Research Honors Program Coordinator is assigned to scholars for each
program. Scholars will also receive individual advising with the URHP program director
through the Honors College, helping to make sure students are on track to meet goals
and graduate on time.
Priority Registration
Honors students are permitted to register for courses early, which ensures an opportunity
to register for desired courses that best fit with their schedule.
Leadership
Undergraduate Research Honors Program Scholars have the opportunity to serve on the
Honors College Student Council and other Honors College ad hoc committees in order
to have input to the Honors experience at ETSU.
Social Events and Activities
A small community of high-achieving students in a variety of honors programs, the
Honors College regularly hosts co-curricular and social events for members of the
