Get ready for residency
The Pharmacy Residency Track prepares student pharmacists for careers in progressive practice while also providing additional opportunities to strengthen their candidacy for competitive post-graduate training programs. Students who complete requirements receive “Award for Excellence in Clinical Pharmacy” notated on their official transcript.
Application
Students may apply as early as the P2 year when coursework begins. An application must be submitted no later than the conclusion of the p3 year. Students who have met the requirements may enroll here.
Requirements

Complete 8 hours of required coursework. Complete an approved captone experience.* *Draft manuscript; present poster at a national meeting; present 1 hour ACPE-accredited CE program.

Foundations of Clinical Pharmacy Practice
P2 Fall
*Grade of B or higher required to continue in the track

Practice Area Specific Elective
Ambulatory Care Pharmacy Practice in Appalachia (2 hours), P3 Fall (only offered this semester)
OR
Application of Acute Care Pharmacy (2 hours), P3 Spring (only offered this semester)
OR
Business Plan Development (1 hour), P3 Spring
*Only one of these courses is required. Students do not have to take all practice area specific electives.

Pharmacy Leadership Forum
P3 Fall - 1 hour -
Begin Post-Grad Launchpad
P3 Spring – (1 hour awarded in the Fall P4 year)
This is a calendar year long elective that meets monthly from January of the student’s P3 year until November of the student’s P4 year .

Research Component
Clinical Research Primer (2 hours), Offered P3 year.
OR
Independent Research with a Faculty Member, Any Year
Students must complete 2 hours of research experience either in the form of independent research with a faculty member OR through the Clinical Research Primer Course. Both are not required.

Finish Postgraduate Launchpad
P4 Fall - 1 hour
This is a calendar year long elective that meets monthly from January of the student’s P3 year until November of the student’s P4 year.

Capstone
P4 Spring – 1 hour
