Faculty Trustee Election to the ETSU Board of Trustees 2025 - 2027
Announcement:
The ETSU Faculty Senate is seeking nominations for the position of Faculty Trustee to the ETSU Board of Trustees serving for the 2025-2027 term. Self-nominations are accepted and encouraged. Before nominating another individual, ensure that person is willing to serve and eligible (based on the qualifications below). Nominations will be accepted via email beginning on Monday, January 27, 2025 through 5:00 p.m. on Friday, February 14, 2025. For more information, please refer to the ETSU Faculty Senate By Laws in Section 3.7, or see the information below.
The Faculty Senate Executive Committee will review all nominations on Monday, February 17 to ensure all candidates are qualified. The Full Senate will review the nominations on Monday, February 24. If more than three nominations are received, the Senate will hold a vote to limit the candidate pool to no more than three. Candidates for Faculty Trustee will be announced to the faculty at large on February 26. Voting will open on March 1 and close on March 6 at 5:00 p.m. The results will be announced as soon as the election results are finalized.
Information Session for Interested Faculty:
Two information sessions will be presented by current Trustee, Dr. Steph Frye-Clark,
and former Trustee, Dr. Viriginia Foley. These will be held on Zoom (only) and may
be accessed at the links below:
Thursday, January 23, 11:30 a.m. - 12:00 p.m.
Friday, January 31, 1:00 - 1:30 p.m.
Nominee Qualifications: (Faculty Senate By Laws 3.7.2)
To be eligible for consideration, the potential nominee must have been a full-time faculty member for at least six (6) years and demonstrate satisfactory involvement in university-wide shared governance.
Submission of Nomination: (Faculty Senate By Laws 3.7.1.a-b)
Any interested faculty shall submit a statement of qualifications to the President of the Senate during the nomination period. The President of Faculty Senate shall forward all applications to the Faculty Senate Executive Committee which will review the eligibility of each candidate by no later than the scheduled meeting of the Senate at which the ballot is created.

Faculty Trustee Responsibilites with Faculty Senate (Faculty Senate By Laws 3.7.7)
If the newly-elected faculty trustee is not currently a member of the Senate, they automatically become an at-large member of the Senate and must remain a member in good standing for the duration of their term. Upon election to the ETSU Board of Trustees, the faculty trustee will become an ex-officio member of the Faculty Senate Executive Committee and will be expected to fulfill the following duties of an Executive Committee member:
- Attend all scheduled meetings of the Faculty Senate Executive Committee
- Attend all scheduled meetings of the Faculty Senate
- Attend all monthly meetings of the Executive Committee and university administration
