The Sustainability Ambassadors are student workers employed by the Department of Sustainability. The Ambassadors provide education, outreach, and support to the ETSU campus community. The group consists of students from all majors that are working towards one common goal, a sustainable ETSU community. Through their work, they gain experience in engaging with the campus community and public and take a role in actively promoting sustainable practices.
Education and outreach event topics covered by the Sustainability Ambassadors can vary from energy use, waste reduction, consumerism, recycling and many more. They gain experience through activities such as staffing educational or activity tables, sorting recycling, conducting Weigh the Waste events and collaborations with other ETSU organizations.
Through engagement with the campus community and peer-to-peer education, the Ambassadors help promote understanding among students, faculty and staff about how they can reduce their environmental footprint. They also help educate about campus initiatives that are driving ETSU to become a more sustainble campus.
