ROLE OF THE PARTNERSHIP MANAGER (PM)
Our office completes many projects, including marketing campaigns, news releases and stories, videos, photos, design projects, print projects, social media posts and campaigns, newsletters, scripts, memos, and speeches.
All units on campus are assigned to a Partnership Manager; locate the partnership manager assigned to you here.
The PM is your initial point of contact with UMC. All marketing and communications requests must go through your PM.
A note on timeliness: For large-scale projects, video, and photography request, please contact your PM at least two months in advance. For minor web updates, news stories, and social media posts, reach out to your PM at least two weeks in advance. If these timeliness are not met, UMC cannot guarantee that your project will be completed.
Role of UMC
The Office of University Marketing and Communications is charged with leading strategic marketing and communications initiatives and completing an annual work plan, developed by the Chief Marketing and Communications Officer in consultation with leaders across campus.
The work plan as well as a real-time list of projects UMC has planned or undertaken for this fiscal year is available here.
However, we strive to respond to emerging news or opportunities throughout the year. Below are the types of communication UMC manages. If you have an idea or request — of any sort — please contact your PM.
To ensure that we are efficient and effective, your PMs are happy to serve as your single point of contact for our office. Please do not reach out directly to our designers, videographers, web specialists, or other creative team members.
Articles
UMC produces news releases for major campus events, book publications, major exhibitions and performances open to the public, and other important announcements. UMC also generates written packages in conjunction with larger marketing campaigns. Contact your PM for additional details.
Photography and Video
UMC photographers and videographers are assigned to cover major campus events and activities. Contact your PM if you would like your event to be considered. UMC needs at least two weeks' notice for photography. If UMC can't cover your event, you may contact your PM for a list of possible vendors.
Social Media
UMC manages the university’s main social media platforms, posting and sharing information as it relates to the strategic plan. Contact your PM if you would like content from your entity to be considered for social media.
Web Services
UMC provides web services, including minor updates and full-scale revamps. Contact your PM for any updates. Full-scale revamps are selected months in advance in coordination with university leadership and the strategic plan.
Internal Communication
UMC produces a weekly email (formerly ETSU Events and Weekly Update) that arrives
in inboxes Tuesday mornings. Learn more here.
