Grade Point Average & Test Scores
If you are under age 21 and applying as a freshman, you must meet one of the following standards:
Minimum grade point average of 2.3 on a 4.0 scale
orMinimum ACT composite score of 17 or 920 SAT score.

ACT or SAT Requirements
Test scores are not required for admission. However, test scores are still required for scholarships and they are used for academic advising.
ETSU will superscore ACT/SAT scores for admission, and for scholarship decisions made by the Office of Financial Aid & Scholarships. Scholarships administered by other units (for example, the ETSU Honors College or a specific academic college or department) may have their own requirements; please check directly with those units.
Test-takers should request their scores be sent to ETSU electronically by the test agency.Some students may be required to take the Accuplacer Test to identify subjects in which additional coursework is needed.

Can I get Non-Traditional Credit for things like service in the Armed Forces, Advanced Placement or CLEP?
Undergraduate, degree-seeking students enrolled at ETSU may establish advanced standing credit through a number of non-traditional means. Read more about our non-tradition credit options.

What if I did not graduate high school, but took the HiSET/HSE/GED?
Applicants 18 years of age or older who are not high school graduates may be considered for admission by completing the HiSET/ GED (General Education Development test)/ HSE (high school equivalency diploma). Have your testing institution submit your official scores or credential to ETSU.

How do I apply to the Early Admission Program?
The Early Admission Program allows a student to start their freshman year of college in the year that would have been their senior year of high school.
A prospective student is eligible for Early Admission to ETSU if the individual’s official transcript reflects the individual has completed the 11th grade year at an accrediated U.S. high school and meets the minimum GPA and test score requirement. The minimum test score requirement is a 25 ACT Composite and the minimum GPA is a 2.5.
Procedures:
- Submit the application for admission
Pay the application fee- Submit official transcript with official ACT or SAT test score
- Submit a written statement from the individual’s high school principal specifying
the college course(s) that will be substituted for the remaining high school course(s)
needed for high school graduation and
- Submit a written endorsement from a high school counselor and a written endorsement
from a parent or guardian
