Language and Culture Resource Center

Welcome to the Language and Culture Resource Center!

We offer opportunities for people within the ETSU and regional communities to share cultural experiences, to celebrate our diverse backgrounds, and to build connections between native English speakers and multilingual speakers. Our programs include translation and interpretation services in Spanish and Portuguese, language tables, and conversation partners for international students. We host special events such as Hispanic Student Day for high school students in the Latinx community and the Corazón Latino festival. Hispanic Student Day - January 31st, 2023

This event welcomes Hispanic high school students from the region to visit ETSU and learn about attending a college or university. This year's event will be held at the ETSU D. P. Culp Center Ballroom on Tue., January 31st, 2023 from 8:30 am - 2:30 pm. If you are interested in attending, please contact sanchezsalazar@etsu.edu.

Corazón Latino Festival - May 5th, 2023

This year's festival will be held from 4 pm - 10 pm on Friday, May 5th, 20223. We are considering moving to a different location and we hope to make an announcement about it soon. Come enjoy live music, food, dance, art, and more! The event will feature Mariachis, Mexican Folk dance, Tango, Salsa, and DJ Torrado. 

Free Swahili Lessons

Classes meet weekly on Thurdays via Zoom. Contact michieka@etsu.edu for more information and for the Zoom link. 

Conversation Partner Program

International students and multilingual speakers in the community are invited to practice your English with us!  

Individualized meetings available with LCRC students in person or via Zoom. Contact norrish@etsu.edu to schedule a partner.
