Puertas Abiertas
Puertas Abiertas a la Comunidad Hispana
Puertas Abiertas was created on September 23, 2004 at an invitational meeting to promote a better understanding of the Hispanic community in Northeast Tennessee. Puertas Abiertas a la Comunidad Hispana (Open Doors to the Hispanic Community) is a community coalition that advocates for awareness and outreach to the growing Hispanic population in Northeast Tennessee.
Puertas Abiertas is a collaborative effort, combining the resources of East Tennessee State University, the Language and Culture Resource Center, and concerned community leaders. The coalition aims to educate people about the diversity of cultures and languages present in our area, the benefits thereof, and to encourage Spanish-speaking and English-speaking persons to interact and learn from each other.
Puertas Abiertas is committed to social, legal, and educational equality for all community members, and seeks to promote understanding and respect for people of all languages, races, and heritages.
Puertas Abiertas utilizes its influence and resources to foster a welcoming, diverse, and thriving multicultural community in Northeast Tennessee and beyond.
