Art Education K-12

Our Teacher Academy offers one of the area's few art education teacher licensure programs. Students may prepare to teach at the elementary, middle/junior high or high school level with K-12 certification.

The art education program prepares you as an artist in your own right, and as a future teacher who will help your students develop their own visual literacy. This program culminates with a year long Residency involving art classroom placements at two different schools and a comprehensive oral examination.

Praxis Exam Required Prior to Admittance

To be certified in Art K-12 you need to take test code 5135 (Art: Content and Analysis) and receive a qualifying score per Tennessee State requirements.
