We're excited to have you learn more about our three great family medicine residency programs, all three Bristol, Johnson City, and Kingsport are located here in the beautiful mountains of eastern Tennessee.
About Us
Each of our residency programs is fully accredited by the ACGME and all provide integrated training for MD's and DO's. Our experienced and enthusiastic faculty love to teach and our dedicated and friendly staff help to make each residents journey an exciting and well supported experience.
All of our residency faculty are actively involved in teaching the art of delivering community-focused, evidence-based, patient-centered care. Their many special interests include women's health, sports medicine, geriatrics, palliative care, rural medicine, complementary medicine, and practice management.
Quillen College of Medicine's human patient simulator is utilized by all three programs as part of the core curriculum.
Although our residencies are close geographically and share the common administrative support of our department, each is a unique program with its own particular strengths and personality. Only by exploring all three residency programs will you get the full sense of all that they have to offer.
We are proud of our successes in helping to meet the needs, not only of rural Appalachia, but of the rest of our nation as well. We have graduates practicing across the country, from small towns to large cities, in practices that exemplify the diversity that is family medicine.
U. S. News and World Report has consistently ranked our department as one of the top twenty departments of family medicine, and ETSU as one of the top schools for rural medicine. A recent study published in the Annals of Internal Medicine demonstrated that ETSU ranked number one among all U.S. medical school in the nation for producing primary care physicians, and number twelve on a social mission scale.
