Will scholarships be available?
ETSU Esports will offer scholarships for Varsity student athletes. The criteria and scholarship amounts are in development. -
In which tournaments will ETSU Esports compete?
ETSU Esports will participate in the Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) for both League of Legends and Overwatch beginning Fall 2020. Overwatch will also compete in the TESPA directed Overwatch Collegiate Championship while League of Legends will compete in Riot Game’s official College League of Legends tournament. -
When is the collegiate esports season?
The collegiate esports season begins in January each year. The fall semester is considered the off season and during this time Overwatch and League of Legends teams will be in training to prepare for conference play. Matches will be scheduled in advance and the full schedule will be published on our website www.etsu.edu/esports. -
How often will varsity teams train?
The team will train three times per week with each training session lasting two hours. Two weeks prior to major competitions an extra two-hour training session will be added to the schedule. -
What are the academic requirements?
Student athletes must maintain a 2.5 GPA, be enrolled as a full time student, and be making progress toward graduation in order maintain team member status. -
Will I need to bring my own computer?
ETSU Esports will provide all team members access to our state-of-the-art training facility, fully equipped with 14 high end gaming computers. We will also provide peripherals (mouse, keyboard, headset) but students may supply their own peripherals if desired. -
Will the team ever travel for tournaments?
Based on regular season performance, both League of Legends and Overwatch teams will have the opportunity to travel to compete in post season play for TESPA, College League of Legends, and ECAC. -
Will it be an issue if I don’t have any classes on main campus?
Team members do not need to attend classes on main campus but will be required to attend all training and competitions in the arena located in the Cave area of the D. P. Culp University Center.
