The following policies are in place to help manage awards and information regarding the large number of available ETSU scholarships.

APS Policies
- Tennessee residents and residents of border counties in Virginia and North Carolina (Grayson, Lee, Scott and Washington counties in Virginia and Ashe, Avery, Haywood, Madison, Mitchell, Watauga and Yancey counties in North Carolina.)
- Only entering freshmen and transfer students are eligible.
- Students who enter ETSU during the summer semester will be considered "new" students for the following fall semester.
- Graduates, second undergraduate degree-seeking and currently enrolled students are not eligible.
- Exceptions may be made if student has not attended high school or another post secondary institution for at least four years.
- Students who have completed less than 12 transferable credit hours must meet the entering freshmen criteria.
- Students who enter ETSU the fall semester following their high school graduation will be considered freshmen for APS purposes.
- Recipients must maintain an overall GPA ≥ 2.5, earn a term GPA ≥ 2.5, and enroll in and pass at least 15 credit hours each semester.
- Presidential, Provost and Deans Scholarship recipients are required to perform 75 service hours each semester (approximately 5 hours per week).
- APS recipients beginning in the Fall semester who require service hours are responsible for securing their own positions on campus by August 15. APS recipients beginning in the Spring semester who require service hours are responsible for securing their own position on campus by January 15. APS positions are posted on the Office of Financial Aid and Scholarships Student Work Programs web page.
- APS awards may be made by the following office: Office of Undergraduate Admissions.
- The availability of awards is contingent on funding levels.
- All APS recipients must comply with the State of Tennessee Eligibility Verification for Entitlements Act (EVEA).
- Initial eligibility and renewal requirements may change in the future.

APS Renewal
- Must earn a minimum of 15 credit hours per semester and maintain a cumulative and term GPA of 2.5 or higher
- Students who fail to earn a minimum of 15 credit hours and/or fail to earn a term or cumulative GPA of 2.5 or higher will be placed on probation for the following major term. Students who fail to meet these criteria a second time will lose their scholarship for all future terms.
- Presidential, Provost and Deans APS recipients must perform 75 services hours each semester in the same department. APS recipients who do not complete the 75 service hours will lose their scholarship for all future terms
- APS recipients must stay continuously enrolled (fall and spring terms).
- No APS awards are available for summer terms.
- APS students may receive a one-time waiver of the 75 service hour requirement if they 1) are enrolled in 12 or more hours of internship credits 2) are enrolled in 12 or more hours of residency credits (student teaching) or 3) are enrolled in a study abroad program. Students may request this permission by completing this form.
- Students who fail to meet these criteria will lose their scholarship for all future terms

Other Policies
Congratulations on receiving a scholarship! Please read the following scholarship policies carefully. These policies are in place to provide a framework so that our scholarship monies are used to assist as many students as possible and to treat all of our scholarship students in a fair and equitable manner.
- Unless otherwise stated in the awards letter, scholarships are granted for a maximum of 8 semesters.
- In general, scholarships are awarded for fall and spring semesters and are not available for summer.
- Many scholarship awards require students to be enrolled in at least 15 hours per term. Read your scholarship award letter carefully.
- Scholarship recipients of multi-year awards must be continuously enrolled to maintain their eligibility.
- Scholarship awards are based on the availability of funds and the criteria set forth by the appropriate governing body and are subject to change.
- Financial need is determined through the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA).
- Student athletes may be subject to additional NCAA regulations.
- For many ETSU scholarships, recipients must comply with the State of Tennessee Eligibility Verification for Entitlements Act (EVEA).
