Presidential Grants-In-Aid
Presidential Grants-in-Aid may be awarded for planned programs of faculty development that enhance teaching, research development or service. Primarily for faculty development, the mission of the program is to fund activities that will enhance a faculty member's credentials or the ability to conduct teaching, research, and/or service. Research Development Committee Grants for Faculty
The Research Development Committee, composed of two faculty members from each college and also of past award recipients, is responsible for distributing internal funds to support research. Major Research Grants up to $10,000 as well as Small Research Grants up to $1,500 are available. Interdisciplinary Grants are also available, for projects or symposiums up to $50,000.
Instructional Development Grants
Instructional Development Grants provide funds for special projects in which faculty implement and assess innovative methods to enhance student learning at ETSU. The deadlines for submitting applications are sent to all faculty each year. For more information:

Student/Faculty Collaborative Research Grants
The purpose of this fund is to encourage outstanding undergraduate students to complete an organized research project during their senior year. In consideration of the time required for most research, juniors also are eligible for grant awards. Administered by the Honors College & Office of Undergraduate Research and Creative Activities.
Summer Research Fellowship in Arts and Sciences
The Summer Research Fellowship for faculty in the College of Arts and Sciences is open to all tenured or tenure-track faculty within the College of Arts and Sciences. However, the criteria for award favors more senior faculty who have made significant contributions to their discipline and who have a substantial research plan for the summer during which they would hold the fellowship. The funds will be available to faculty as a salary supplement, as a combination of stipend and support for scholarly activity conducted during the summer or as support for the scholarly activity. The amount awarded to a Summer Research Fellow will be $7,500.

Travel Award for Arts and Sciences Faculty
The Travel Award for faculty in the College of Arts and Sciences competition is open to all tenured or tenure-track faculty within the College of Arts and Sciences. The funds will be available to faculty who have been invited via a selection process to give a presentation or to perform or exhibit at a conference of international significance. The amount awarded will be $2,000 or 80% of the total cost, whichever is less.
The Fall 2020 TAASF competition has been suspended due to university travel restrictions
outlined in the the Bucs are Back, Stage 2 with Modifications Operational plan. Check
back here for updates on the Spring 2021 TAASF competition.
The Spring 2021 deadline will be 4:30 pm on April 1, 2021, for travel after April
1, 2021. First Thursday in April, annually thereafter.
The Fall 2021 deadline will be 4:30 pm on November 4, 2021, for travel after November 4, 2021. First Thursday in November, annually thereafter.
