Cancellations
2026-2027 Housing and/or Dining Plan Agreements are for Fall 2026 and Spring 2027 semesters; Spring 2027 Agreements are for one semester only. By signing the Agreement(s), the student has agreed to live in University housing and/or participate in the Dining Plan and to pay the applicable monies for the entire term of the Agreement. Please review the below information carefully, regarding cancellation of agreement(s).
Cancelling Prior to August 3, 2026
Students needing to cancel their housing and/or dining plan agreement prior to the August 3 deadline can simply log into their ETSU Housing Portal to cancel, or send an email to housing@etsu.edu.
August 3 - Last day to cancel confirmed agreement(s) for the upcoming academic year.
Requesting to Cancel After August 3, 2026
Students wishing to cancel their housing and/or dining plan agreements after the August 3rd deadline must complete the Request to Cancel Agreements Form. Please select an option below, carefully review the provided information, and click the button at the bottom to complete the Request to Cancel Form.

Not Enrolled
Students should complete the Requst to Cancel Agreements form, indicating they will not be enrolled and giving a reason. Students Graduating, Withdrawing, Transferring, or Not Enrolled will be verified with the Registrar's Office.
Withdrawals will be subject to the University's regular 75%/25%/0% refund deadlines and policies for tuition and fees.

Remaining Enrolled
Housing and/or Dining Agreements are legally binding documents that you confirmed in agreement with their full terms and conditions. If remaining enrolled at ETSU for the term(s) in question, you are requesting an exception from the agreement. This is referred to as an Appeal.
Students should complete the Request to Cancel Agreements form. As selections are made indicating the student will be remaining enrolled, the form will prompt for further information and documentation.
Appeal Documentation
- All Appeals must include (at least) three attachments: a typed and signed statement
of circumstance from the student, a typed and signed support statement from a parent
or other concerned party, and documentation that supports their situation which is
causing the need to appeal.
- Appeals submitted without at least these three attachments will be automatically denied.
- Documentation alone does not guarantee being released, but it may strengthen your case. It is your responsibility to provide documentation that supports or verifies your reason for requesting an exception.
- The Associate Director looks for substantive changes in your circumstances since signing the Agreement or the last date to cancel the Agreement: August 3, 2026.
Appeals Submitted Can Expect to Receive Outcome On August 3rd to August 12th Thursday, August 13, 2026 August 13th to August 16th Monday, August 17, 2026 August 17th to August 23rd Thursday, August 27, 2026 August 24th to August 30th Thursday, September 3, 2026 August 31st to September 6th Thursday, September 10, 2026 September 7th to September 13th Thursday, September 17, 2026 Please be advised the appeals process will follow the above schedule for outcomes. An email will be sent to your ETSU email account with the Associate Director’s decision. One further level of appeal can be made to the Executive Director of Housing and Residence Life. If released from the agreement, your initial $100 housing deposit will be forfeited (if applicable).
Appeals will only be accepted until September 13, 2026 for the fall semester.

Requests to Cancel are considered on a case by case basis by the Associate Director of Housing & Residence Life, in consultation with appropriate campus partners.
