Pre-Orientation Checklist
We are excited for you attend your New Student Orientation at ETSU! After registering for Orientation, please make sure to complete the following at least two weeks before you attend Orientation. Though you can still attend your Orientation without completing these items, it allows for a better experience if all or at least most of these items are complete before Orientation.
As you complete the checklist items, make sure you are checking your ETSU email frequently for important updates and additional information.

Complete your Immunization Requirements
Click HERE to see your immunization requirements and how to submit required documents. Please read this information thoroughly and contact the University Health Center with questions at immunizations@etsu.edu or 423-439-4500

Submit Selective Service Information (Male Students over age 18)
All male U.S. citizens (regardless of where they live) and male immigrants residing in the United States must register with the Selective Service within 30 days of their 18th birthday. Registration verification can be completed online through the Selective Service System.
Please send your Selective Service number to documents@etsu.edu to ensure this hold is removed from your account.

Submit Citizenship/Residency Verification Documents
Tennessee law requires students to verify their residency.
Take a clear photo of the documents listed below and email them to documents@etsu.edu- Tennessee residents: submit your Tennessee driver’s license
- Residents of other states: your state’s driver’s license AND your birth certificate or U.S. passport
- If you are not a U.S. Citizen: please email international@etsu.edu to find out what you need to submit.

Submit ACT/SAT Test Scores or Take Accuplacer Test for Course Placement
All students MUST either submit ACT/SAT test scores, take the Accuplacer placement exam(s), or submit transfer coursework for course placement. Some students may have specific course placement requirements based on those scores. Learning support is a program designed to make sure you have the necessary academic support in those courses to ensure success at ETSU. If this is applicable to you, you will receive communication from our University Advisement Center providing information about Learning Support. It is also important to let us know if you have completed a SAILS or Bridge Math course that could satisfy the Math requirement.

Upload your ID Card photo
Upload your photo ID by clicking HERE prior to coming to campus. You will have access to upload your ID 24-48 hours after registering and paying for New Student Orientation. Please make sure to bring a government ID with you to Orientation to pick up your ETSU ID Card.

Apply for On-Campus Housing
Living on campus is a great way to experience ETSU, get connected, and find support during your first year. Visit our Housing and Residence Life page to view housing options, rates, and application process information.
Please note, living on campus may be required as part of a scholarship or program.

Prepare for Advisement & Course Registration
Your academic advisor will contact you via email a couple of weeks prior to your Orientation date. Your advisor will offer an opportunity to meet with them for a pre-registration appointment before your Orientation date. During this meeting, you will have the opportunity to learn about your major and register for courses if you have taken care of the items on your Pre-Orientation Checklist. During your Orientation session, you can discuss any schedule change requests with your advisor. If you are unable to connect with an advisor before Orientation, you will meet with them for advising and course registration during your session. Complete items on the checklist above before your advising meeting. Failure to complete items including Immunization requirements and Select Service Forms could impact your ability to register for classes.

Understand your Learning Support Requirements
Students requiring Learning Support will receive information through an email to their ETSU email address from the University Advisement Center. Additional information regarding Learning Support can be found HERE.

Ask about First-Year Experience Courses!
A first-year experience course is designed to help you make the most of your first semester of college. Ask your advisor about taking one! Some majors and scholarships require one of these classes,but we think everyone should take it! They are designed to connect you with other new students, tell you about resources, and help you gain a mentor in an upperclassman and faulty/staff member at ETSU! Ask your advsior when you meet with them!

Freshman Students
Please send Advanced Placement (AP) credit to ETSU (request thru www.collegeboard.org), send official dual enrollment transcripts, and send an official copy of your high school transcript to the address below.

Transfer Students
Review your Degree Works Audit in GoldLink, verify that all college credit has been received and loaded, and bring copies of any missing transcripts (current semester enrolled, etc.). For questions about how your transfer courses were applied in your Degree Works Audit, please contact your academic advisor.
