
CTE Affiliates and Associates
Looking for ways to boost your service to the institution while furthering the educational
mission of ETSU?
Consider applying to become a CTE Affiliate or CTE Associate!
In either role, work with the CTE to develop and deliver instructional support to
colleagues in a variety of possible ways - whatever works best for your schedule or
strengths.
While offering service to ETSU and the CTE, you will also continue to grow your own teaching expertise!

CTE Affiliate
ETSU faculty or staff may apply to be considered for the Affiliate role for the upcoming academic year.
Upon application, Affiliates indicate from a menu (see below on this webpage) those service activities they are most interested in providing. Some, but not all, service activities may require one-time CTE training; this training time is credited toward the service credits.
To fulfill the role, Affiliates agree to complete 6 or more "service credits" from the menu of service activities over the upcoming academic year. Affiliates will work with CTE staff to draft a plan for this service before or as the new academic year begins.
Eligibility:
- Recent experience teaching in higher education
- Recent engagement with CTE activities
- Evidence of intentional and reflective teaching
- (First-year faculty/staff are encouraged to engage with CTE activities and consider this position after at least a year of teaching at ETSU)
Benefits:
- Affiliates earn service hours toward the university that can be reported in their annual activities report.
- Affiliates will receive an annual letter of recognition for their service from the CTE Director.
- Affiliates will be recognized from the Provost's Office.
- Affiliates will be invited to CTE Service recognition events, to be offered at least once per semester of active service.
- Affiliates may list, in a signature line and on their CV, their title as "2024-25 CTE Affiliate."
- Affiliates will receive recognition on the CTE Staff page.
- Affiliates will receive recognition through CTE communications and promotionals, when appropriate or applicable.
- Affiliates will receive annual recognition through a permanent installation in the CTE's common space in Sherrod Library (TBD, but e.g., engraved name on wall plaque for the academic year)
There is no cap for accepted Affiliates.
Affiliates may renew their role annually, with no limits to number of renewals.
The Affiliate role is excellent training ground for faculty interested in eventually applying for the Associate role.
The CTE will receive applications for the Affiliate role through September 15, 2024.

CTE Faculty Associate
ETSU faculty may apply to be considered for the Faculty Associate role for the upcoming academic year.
The CTE is accepting applications for 1 Faculty Associate position for the 2024-2025 year.
Within the application, potential Associates indicate from a menu (see below on this webpage) those service activities they are most interested in providing. Some, but not all, service activities may require one-time CTE training; this training time is credited toward the service credits.
To fulfill the role, Associates agree to complete 16 or more "service credits" from the menu of service activities over the upcoming academic year. Associates will work with CTE staff to draft a plan for this service before or as the new academic year begins. Associates also agree to regularly attend CTE staff meetings during the academic year (currently held 3:00 Thursday afternoons).
Eligibility:
- Record of experience teaching in higher education
Record of regular engagement with CTE activities- Evidence of intentional and reflective teaching
Preferred:
- History of service to the CTE
- Record of attendance at other (non-CTE) teaching-related professional development activities
Benefits:- Associates earn service hours toward the university that can be reported in their annual activities report.
Associates will receive an annual letter of recognition for their service from the CTE Director.
Associates will be recognized from the Provost's Office.
Associates will be invited to CTE Service recognition events, to be offered at least once per semester of active service.- Associates may list, in a signature line, their title as "2024-25 CTE Faculty Associate."
Associates will be considered CTE Staff Members for the academic year and will be indicated as such on the CTE Staff page.
Associates will receive recognition through CTE communications and promotionals.
Associates will receive annual recognition through a permanent installation in the CTE's common space in Sherrod Library (TBD, but e.g., engraved name on wall plaque for the academic year).- In recognition for their service, Associates will receive a light honorarium of no less than $1000 for the academic year.
Associate roles are limited and competitively selected each year. The number of open and available roles per year may vary, with anticipation of 1-3 new roles available each year.
Accepted Associates may renew their role for up to 3 consecutive years.
After serving 3 years, Faculty Associates may continue to serve, without honorarium, in the Senior Affiliate role.
Applications are now being accepted; deadline for applications is May 10, 2024.
Applicants will be notified of a decision by June 1, 2024.

Senior Affiliate
Faculty Associates who have completed 3 years of service in that role may continue service to the CTE through the Senior Affiliate role. CTE Faculty Fellows who are interested in maintaining interactive service with the CTE following their fellowship period may also continue service through the Senior Affiliate role.
Senior Affiliates agree to similar levels of service as those in the CTE Affiliate role.
Senior Affiliates may continue, at their discretion, to participate in CTE staff meetings.
Senior Affiliates will be listed as such on the CTE Staff webpage and will receive all other benefits as listed for the Affiliate role.
