Available Positions
The Slocumb Galleries under the Department of Art & Design at East Tennessee State University, provide enhanced educational experience to the academic and regional communities through art exhibitions, lectures, art demos, film showings and various outreach projects. The Slocumb Galleries is managed by Director Karlota I. Contreras-Koterbay with the student staff. The advisory Gallery Committee comprised of select faculty reviews exhibition proposals, while the the Slocumb Galleries Student Society (SGSS) serve as the auxiliary help for events and funding opportunities from SGA. The Friends of the Slocumb Galleries whose membership range from volunteers and sponsors from the academic and local communities are also significant resource in ensuring that the ambitious and high quality programming of the Slocumb Galleries are achieved. The Tipton Gallery is operated in partnership with the Urban Redevelopment Alliance (URA), one of the key figures in the redevelopment of Downtown Johnson City.
Student Worker (FWS, APS, TS, GA) and Internship (Enrolled or Volunteer) Position
The SG Staff are comprised of graduate and undergraduate students under the Tuition Scholars (TS), Academic Performance Scholars (APS), Federal Work Study (FWS) and the Career and Internship Program. Undergraduate students who are interested in gallery operations and curatorial projects with FWS or APS status may inquire for positions via email contrera@etsu.edu.

Internships
Students may apply for internships for the Slocumb Galleries. We offer either 1 credit hour or 3 credit hour ARTA course. Applicants need to submit their resume via Careers & Internship Services at ETSU c/o Ms. Susan Creek, you may inquire via email creek@etsu.edu. Applicants will be interviewed and accepted by the Slocumb Galleries Director. If enrolled, the internship class is allocated as ARTA (studios art) course.
