The Academic Performance Scholarship (APS) program is ETSU's largest merit-based award designed to recognize and support outstanding new freshman students.
These scholarships are for new freshman students from Tennessee and border counties eligible for in-state tuition.

Presidential
- $5,000 per year
- Minimum 6th Semester GPA: 3.9
- Minimum ACT/SAT scores: 30/1360
Requirements:
- Apply for admission to ETSU by the Thursday before the start of the term (you are applying for) and submit all required documents by the first day of the term to the Office of Undergraduate Admissions. Students whose documents are received after this date will not be considered for APS scholarships.
- Send ETSU Office of Undergraduate Admissions your official high school transcripts.
- Take ACT or SAT exam prior to March 1 deadline and send ETSU Office of Undergraduate Admissions your scores.
- Students must have earned both the minimum GPA and the minimum ACT or SAT score to be eligible for the Academic Performance Scholarship.
- Complete 75 APS service hours prior to the last day of finals each semester for the first 4 semesters of eligibility
- Resident of TN or
- Reside in one of the following NC border counties: Ashe, Avery, Haywood, Madison, Mitchell, Watauga, Yancey VA: Grayson, Lee, Scott, Washington
- Entering freshman
- Required SAT score is Math/Critical Reading sections only.
Renewal Requirements:
- Maintain a 2.5 term GPA,
- Maintain a 2.5 cumulative GPA
- Enroll in and pass at least 15 credit hours each semester (not including Learning Support courses), unless approved to enroll in less via appeal, and
- Complete 75 APS service hours prior to the last day of finals each semester for the first 4 semesters of eligibility
Exclusions:
- Scholarships are available for fall and spring terms only.
- Students may not receive a Presidential APS if they are receiving any of the other scholarships listed with the Scholarship Policies.
Award Distribution: Scholarships are renewable for a total of 8 semesters if all requirements are met.

- $4,000 per year
- Minimum 6th Semester GPA: 3.5
- Minimum ACT/SAT scores: 27/1260
Requirements:
- Apply for admission to ETSU by the Thursday before the start of the term (you are applying for) and submit all required documents by the first day of the term to the Office of Undergraduate Admissions. Students whose documents are received after this date will not be considered for APS scholarships.
- Send ETSU Office of Undergraduate Admissions your official high school transcripts.
- Take ACT or SAT exam prior to March 1 deadline and send ETSU Office of Undergraduate Admissions your scores.
- Students must have earned both the minimum GPA and the minimum ACT or SAT score to be eligible for the Academic Performance Scholarship.

- $2,000 per year
- Minimum 6th Semester GPA: 4.0
- Minimum ACT/SAT scores: 22/1100
