The purpose of the Faculty Definitions & Workload work group is to review internal policies related to definitions of faculty and the workload expectation of each faculty definition. Additionally, this group will review similar policies from peer institutions, review the workload needs of units within the institution, and draft a policy that defines the types of faculty needed to meet the mission and goals of the institution. This work is important because it will clarify current policies, normalize workload expectations between units while respecting the diversity of purpose between units, and provide guidance when hiring faculty and making budget requests for faculty hires.
This work group will be responsible for:
- Reviewing current ETSU faculty definitions and workload policies,
- Reviewing policies from peer institutions related to faculty definitions and workload requirements, and
- Evaluating the needs of colleges across the institution.
Deliverables and Timeline:
ETSU faculty definitions and workload policies are drafted. The work group will continue to gather feedback on these policies. They will go out for public comment in Fall 2025.
