Preview & Quest

PREVIEW is designed to make new students feel at home and at ease before classes begin each fall. Students participate in activities to make friends, meet classmates, learn the campus and have a lot of fun!

QUEST is a college transition program that takes place the week before fall classes begin and is designed to help  historically underrepresented students become acclimated to campus life while building a network of friends, faculty, and staff to assist students through their college journeys while at ETSU.

Welcome Week

During the first week of classes each fall, ETSU welcomes students back to campus through a week-long series of event showcasing al of the different organizations, clubs and activities to get involved in at ETSU. Getting involved at ETSU is fun, opens up leadership opportunities, allows students to meet other people and provides additional support needed for students to succeed.

Homecoming

Hosted mid-fall each year, Homecoming offers a week of opportunities for proud Buccaneers to show their pride and give back to the campus and community!  The ETSU Student Government Association, Athletics and Alumni Association take the lead to host events ranging from Alumni reunions and canned food drives, to a pep rally and step show that entertain and encourage school spirit.  Campus traditions engage everyone during homecoming week!

The Office of New Student & Family Programs recognizes that parents and families play an integral role in the successful transition of your student to ETSU. Hosted, once in the fall and once in the spring, Family Weekend is a great opportunity for families to visit their student(s), stay connected to ETSU, and explore all Johnson City has to offer.

Multicultural Center's Signature Programs

The office of Multicultural Center partners with units across campus to celebrate the diversity of heritage and cultural traditions present at ETSU, bringing awareness and understanding to the campus in a variety of ways.  Events include the Cultural Expo, Native American Festival and International Day of Peace each fall, as well as Gospel Extravaganzy, Unity Fest and Corazon Latino each spring.

Major Campus Events & Traditions

ETSU's SGA does a lot more than serve as the official line of communication between faculty, staff, and administration.  The group also coordinates Faculty Appreciation Week each spring, Homecoming each fall, Civility events each spring, and major concerts and events throughout the year.

Graduation Celebration

The ETSU Alumni Association celebrates student success each year with the annual Graduation Celebration and Ring Ceremony. 

Graduating students can pick up their caps and gowns, order official ETSU rings, order graduation announcements, have professional photos taken, get a makeover, have some free food, & register for free giveaways to commemorate their time at ETSU!

Academic Excellence/Honors Convocation

Students graduating from special programs – University Honors Scholars, Midway Honors Scholars, Fine and Performing Arts Honors Scholars, Honors-in-Discipline Scholars, and Roan Leadership Scholars – are recognized and awarded stoles from their respective programs at the annual Academic Excellence Convocation in April each year. Medallions are also awarded to the faculty's picks for most outstanding graduates in their respective degree programs.

Student Ceramic Sale

The Student Ceramics Association (SCA) is an active student club managed by undergraduate and graduate students in ceramics. Every year the club organizes a number of events including: a gallery exhibition in Johnson City, an empty bowls fundraiser, ceramics sales, outreach events, and visiting artist demonstrations. Ceramics sales happen once near the close of each semester and help to fund student activities like the visiting artists, trips to NCECA, and purchasing of specialized equipment for student use.

Join a Fraternity or Sorority

Fraternity & Sorority Life (FSL) is comprised of a community of campus leaders committed to success in all aspects of university life. To become involved in these experiences, an eligible individual must make a commitment to a single organization through the appropriate recruitment or intake process. The Interfraternity Council Fraternities and College Panhellenic Council Sororities primary recruitment process takes place early each fall, informal recruitment or continuous open bidding may not be hosted by every chapter, but takes place throughout the academic year. Intake for the National Pan-Hellenic Council and Multicultural fraternities and sororities happens at various times throughout the year.  Scholarship, service, leadership and social programming is ongoing throughout the fall and spring semesters.

Health & Wellness

Campus Recreation, the Counseling Center, the University Health Clinic, the office of Administration and many others across campus work together to offer a wide variety of programs to encourage students, faculty and staff to Be Well Bucs all year long!  

Annual awareness and education activities include: group fitness classes,  the Red Flag Campaign, Take Back the Night, Walk a Mile in Her Shoes, Well-A-Palooza, outdoor adventure, Love Your Body, and many more!
